An innovative, multi-specialty psychology practice

Mariyah Avery, MA

My name is Mariyah Avery. I am currently working towards my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. In my training so far I have worked closely with kids aged 4 to 8, their families, and individuals dealing with trauma. My experience also includes providing Child-Parent Psychotherapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children. I also have an interest in adult psychotherapy and working with couples. I believe the dynamics of these relationships play a pivotal role in one's mental well-being. I'm drawn to approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Attachment-Based Therapy. I believe these methodologies offer unique perspectives that can enrich the therapeutic process and enhance the outcomes for clients.

As I have encountered the variety of challenges facing clients, such as anxiety, adjustment disorders, and depression, I've come to appreciate the uniqueness of each individual's struggles. This realization has shaped my approach towards therapy. I firmly believe in an integrative approach that tailors therapy to the specific needs of each client. No two journeys are the same, and this understanding drives me to create a personalized experience for every person I work with. Above all, I consider the relationship with oneself to be the cornerstone of personal growth. My aspiration is to cultivate a therapeutic environment where clients feel empowered to explore their inner selves and share their thoughts and experiences openly.
