Dr. Roberto Uribe

Dr. Uribe’s rich experience and expertise makes him an ideal fit for being a part of the accomplished and diverse team at IPG. Dr. Uribe provides therapy services to all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. He is experienced in conducting individual, family, and group therapy. Specialization is held in the amelioration of children and adolescents struggling with attachment, trauma, anxiety, life transitions/adjustment, substances of abuse, and disturbances in attention, mood, and behavior. Dr. Uribe conducts psycho-educational groups aimed at enhancing a variety of coping skills, social/communication skills, and parent behavioral management skills. Services can be provided to those whose primary language is Spanish.

As an evaluator, Dr. Uribe offers a range of psychological assessments that can help clarify cognitive, developmental, intellectual, academic, social-emotional, and neuropsychological functioning. Guided by the application of research skills in a clinical setting, he is adept at gathering psychological data through the identification of appropriate psychometric, observational, and interview techniques. This process is then aided by interpersonal skills that establish him as credible, compassionate, and relatable. Despite specialization in youths, he is fit to work with individuals of all ages to provide tailored assessments and comprehensive reports that are designed in consultation with you and your other health care providers addressing all questions regarding accurate clinical conceptualization, diagnostic classification, and individualized recommendations.

Dr. Uribe’s approach to psychotherapy is interactive and solution-focused. Subsequently, there is an emphasis on respect for an individual’s unique needs and qualities, a willingness to be flexible, and authentic. He sees humor, honesty and directness as essential to the therapeutic change process with any age group/family constellation. He integrates these interpersonal qualities with complementary therapeutic methodologies and techniques to offer a highly customized and personalized approach to treatment. Employed interventions are derived from sound science and empirically supported treatments that have years of research substantiating strong success rates and symptom relief. Evidence-based treatments generally stem from Cognitive-behavioral, behavioral, interpersonal and family systems psychotherapy. This includes, but is not limited to: Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Coping Cat Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Anxious Children, and behavior management for high-conflict family systems. Dr. Uribe also has a strong background in the treatment of maladies linked to various forms of trauma. By incorporating new science from the fields of affective neuroscience, interpersonal neurobiology, trauma theory, attachment theory, and cognitive behavioral modalities, he looks to promote healthy development, psychological resilience, and healing of the emotion regulation centers of the brain affected by chronic childhood adversity, exposure to trauma, and other factors.
